Sesks got his first taste of a new generation Rally1 car when the 24-year-old was able to test the Ford Puma in preparation for the upcoming Rally Poland. It was announced in the spring that the Latvian hopeful would compete with M-Sport’s equipment in both Poland and later in his home round, Rally Latvia.

In Poland, Sesks will compete without a hybrid unit, but in Latvia in July, Sesks will have full equipment, so to speak. M-Sport’s Adrien Fourmaux and Gregoire Munster tested in Estonia over the weekend, but on Monday the Latvian’s dream came true.

Watch the video of Sesks’ tests below.

Although Sesks is already an experienced driver despite his young age, he has only started 14 times in the World Rally Championship. The last time the Latvian drove in the World Championship was in the 2021 season, when he finished third in the JWRC class with a Ford Rally4 car. Sesks won the class in Portugal that season and was also on the podium in Croatia and Estonia.

In recent years, Sesks has competed in the main category of the European Rally Championship. Last year, Sesks was runner-up in the ERC. In that sense, the Poland and Latvia rounds are ideal for Sesks’ Rally1 debut, as he won these rounds in the ERC last year. In total, Sesks has three wins in the ERC.

In his home round in Latvia, Sesks will be matched against Finnish hopeful Sami Pajari, who will make his WRC top class debut with Toyota’s Rally1 car.
