Hyundai drivers began their tests on Wednesday with championship leader Thierry Neuville, while on Thursday, it was the turn of Estonian star Ott Tänak. Hyundai is conducting its tests in Southern Estonia, giving Tänak’s fans the opportunity to enjoy watching their favourite driver in action on home soil.

This summer, there will be no WRC rally in Estonia as the Baltic event is being held in Latvia for the first time. However, Estonian rally fans will not be entirely without the roar of Rally1 cars this summer.

On Friday, Hyundai’s tests will conclude with Norwegian driver Andreas Mikkelsen.

Below, you can see a few highlights from Tänak’s test day on Thursday. The article continues after the videos.

Tänak has returned to the championship battle following a strong spring season. In May, the Estonian finished second on the gravel in Portugal, and at the beginning of June, he won the Rally Sardinia. This victory was his first of the season.

In the World Championship standings, Tänak is in second place. His teammate, Neuville, has pulled 18 points ahead. Tänak is tied on points with Toyota’s Welsh driver Elfyn Evans, who also tested his Rally1 car on Thursday. However, Toyota conducted their tests in Poland.

The Rally Poland will take place around the city of Mikolajki in the northeast of the country. The event starts with a spectator special stage on Thursday, 27th June. There will be a total of 19 special stages, covering over 304 kilometres.
