On Tuesday, Rovanperä returned to asphalt after a long break and carried out tests in France ahead of Rally Central Europe.
Several videos and photos from Rovanperä’s tests have been published on social media, and the most observant also noticed a clear change in the Finn’s car.
In the pictures circulating on social media, it can be seen that the rear wing of Rovanperä’s car has undergone a transformation.
Rovanperä has experimented with several different rear wing solutions this season. The Finnish champion has complained throughout the year about a lack of grip.
Based on the images, the wing used in testing is larger than before and has only been tried for testing purposes. The wing is unlikely to be permitted under the regulations for use in the actual competition.
Rally Central Europe will take place after mid-October. Rovanperä is still continuing his battle for the world championship, and before Central Europe the Finn stands third in the drivers’ championship, 21 points behind his team-mate Sébastien Ogier, who leads the series.
