The eight-time world champion is contesting around half of the rallies in this year’s WRC calendar. He began his 2025 campaign in January with victory at Rally Monte Carlo but has since taken time away from competition.
Ogier will return to action next week at Rally Islas Canarias, a brand-new addition to the World Rally Championship. Now, it has also been revealed where he will head next following the Canary Islands.
The next event on Ogier’s schedule comes as little surprise. According to Portuguese outlet AutoSport.pt, the French star is expected to take part in Rally de Portugal in mid-May.
The gravel event is one of Ogier’s favourite rallies on the calendar. He has won the Portuguese round no fewer than six times.
Last year, Ogier became the rally’s most successful driver outright, taking a sixth win and moving ahead of Finnish legend Markku Alén, who had previously shared the record with five victories.
“Finally, the story with Markku is over. But as I said, it’s wrong to say ‘finally’ because I have huge respect for him. It was an honour to share this record together for a couple of years,” Ogier said after making history in the Porto region.
“This means a lot because he’s a legend. I’ve heard this comparison for years now, and somehow it’s nice to have this behind me, even though I enjoyed sharing the record with him.”
Rally de Portugal will take place from 15 to 18 May. The official entry list is set to be published next week, on 23 April.
