The final round of the season was held last week in Saudi Arabia, where Fourmaux fought for his first WRC victory. He secured the best result of his career by finishing second, and the win would also have been possible without the one-minute time penalty he received.

There was no long rest for Fourmaux after the desert rally wrapped up on Saturday. On Tuesday, he was already back behind the wheel of a rally car.
What came as a surprise was that Fourmaux tested Hyundai’s Rally2 car in France. The Hyundai i20 N Rally2 achieved very little success in the WRC2 category this season, but the Frenchman carried out a development test with the machine.
According to WRCWings, a site specialising in aerodynamics in rally cars, Hyundai’s Rally2 car was fitted with at least a new, wider roof-mounted air intake.

The technical regulations of the World Rally Championship will be updated for 2027, when the top category will permit tube-frame WRC27 cars. Until now, Hyundai’s management has stated that the team is not developing a WRC27 machine.
Instead, Hyundai has planned to continue developing its Rally2 car. Rally2 cars can compete alongside WRC27 cars in the top class of the World Rally Championship in 2027. So far, only Toyota has confirmed that it intends to bring a new car to the start line at the beginning of 2027.
Fourmaux will remain busy even after his Rally2 test, as he will contest a test rally in Hyundai’s Rally1 car in France this coming weekend. He will have a strong benchmark at Rally Devoluy, with Toyota’s latest factory signing Oliver Solberg also taking part in a GR Yaris Rally1.

Fourmaux and Solberg will both gain good preparation for next season’s opening round, Rally Monte Carlo Rally, by competing in the asphalt event.
