The EA WRC video game, which was released last autumn, has now received an update. Players can download the latest cars from the current season and all the rallies from this year.
This season introduced a brand-new addition to the calendar with the Rally Latvia making its WRC debut, and Poland returning to the championship after a lengthy absence.
Both rallies are included in the EA WRC game update, and the new events have been astonishingly accurately recreated.
“This actually looks quite realistic. I can definitely remember some spots in Poland from when we were just there,” M-Sport Ford’s Adrien Fourmaux commented as he tested the new update.
Toyota’s team principal and former top driver Jari-Matti Latvala was also impressed by the game.
“The graphics look really amazing! The feel on the roads is authentic,” Latvala marvelled.
Latvala also believes that junior drivers could use the game as a training tool. Hyundai veteran Dani Sordo shared a similar opinion.
“At the end of the day, it’s a game; it’s not reality, but it’s really, really close to it. In real life, I’m faster than this,” Sordo joked.
Toyota star Kalle Rovanperä has served as an official ambassador for the game. He reviewed it last December for RallyJournal.com when it was first released.
“I’ve really liked it. When they started, I heard that Codemasters was going to develop it, and I was quite excited. They’ve made great rally games before, like the Dirt series. I really like this one,” Rovanperä said at the time.
Rovanperä was struck by the realism from the start.
“It’s becoming something interesting to drive, even for a real driver. The game feels realistic, and you can have a lot of fun with it.”
