The Finn stepped away from the World Rally Championship at the end of last season. This year, he has starred in Finland’s national rally championship, where he has been in outstanding form.

On Saturday, Lappi secured his fourth consecutive victory, celebrating first place at the Lahti round. The maximum points haul has put him within touching distance of the championship title ahead of the season finale.

“This points situation doesn’t change anything in our approach. We’ll head to Seinäjoki to have fun, enjoy ourselves and fight for the win,” Lappi said.

When asked after the Lahti Rally what he plans to do after this season, Lappi dropped a major revelation.

“If I can sell this car after Seinäjoki, then we’ll see whether I buy a new one or come up with something else. That’s the plan for now.”

Lappi began his campaign at the Arctic Lapland Rally behind the wheel of an older Skoda Fabia Rally2. After that, he purchased Skoda’s latest model, the Fabia RS Rally2, with which he has won every outing.

This year Lappi has been able to enjoy more time with his family while also competing successfully in the Finnish Rally Championship. Whether he continues in the Finnish championship next season remains to be seen.

One thing is certain, though: Lappi will be on the start line when the FRC season reaches its climax in Seinäjoki at the end of September.
