Solberg took victory in Chile and at the same time secured the WRC2 title.
The Swede will remember the 2025 season for a long time, as in addition to the championship he also won a top-class WRC rally in Estonia this year.
Solberg comes from a rallying family. His father, Petter Solberg, won the World Rally Championship in 2003, and his mother, Pernilla, has also been involved in the sport.
But when asked about his greatest inspiration, Oliver overlooked his family. At least for a moment.
“When I think about this year, with everything that’s been happening and the new team, you learn a lot from the people inside the team. And I think for sure Sebastien Ogier has probably been my biggest inspiration and source of learning,” Solberg revealed.
The eight-time – and perhaps soon nine-time – world champion has given Solberg valuable advice during the season.
“This season, he has been helping me very much,” Solberg praised.
But without his family, Solberg would of course not be where he is now. And that is where the greatest thanks belong.
“And of course, for the rest of my life, it’s been my father and my mother. I think my father, especially, through all the years with everything he’s taught me. In the hard way,” Solberg said.
“He’s shown me that you need to know every aspect – about the car, about driving, about everything you can do better to be the best. And that is definitely, you know, all down to my father, for me to learn better,” Solberg continued.
