Pacco Motorsport’s driver pairing of Benjamin Korhola and co-driver Kristian Temonen are heading to Alba, Italy, where the season’s second asphalt rally, Rally Regione Piemonte, will take place.
The duo will not be stepping into the completely unknown, as Korhola already competed in the same rally last year.
“We’re heading to Alba in good spirits to continue learning on asphalt. This rally will certainly be easier in the sense that I already have a bit of experience from last year, so some parts of the roads are somewhat familiar,” Korhola said.
The rally weekend kicks off on Friday with a shakedown stage, followed later in the evening by a short spectator stage. In total, the rally will feature 122.8 kilometres of special stages.
“Alba is a great and varied rally, with both faster sections and narrow, technical roads with plenty of elevation changes,” Korhola previewed.
“We’ll have a good test day during the week and write excellent pace notes together with Kristian. I believe we are in for a great weekend,” Korhola added.
Pacco Motorsport’s team principal Kimmo Koivunen is heading into the event with confidence but is also expecting a good result.
“Alba is a special place for us, as we were there for the first time a year ago. The roads are mainly fast, but when the route passes through villages, the narrow alleys and hairpins add their own challenges,” Koivunen said.
“Last year, we gained valuable experience, and now the targets are set even higher. In the first rally, we finished second in the Junior class, so we cannot go into this event with any lower expectations,” Koivunen emphasised.
