The 34-year-old, who stepped back from the World Rally Championship after last season, has dedicated more time to his family this year. Now, he does so as a newlywed.

On Sunday, Lappi revealed on social media that he has married his long-time partner.

“Our ‘podium celebration’ after 13 years of adventure together – continues now on as husband and wife!” Lappi wrote alongside a photo.

In the picture, Lappi and his wife Pinja are seen spraying sparkling wine just like on an actual podium.

This year, Lappi is competing in the Finnish Rally Championship. He claimed victory at the Savonlinna Rally in early March, after which the Pieksämäki native was surprised with a stag party by his friends.

“I didn’t have a clue about this. Bloody hell. Now I’m starting to guess. Apparently, something’s coming that I know absolutely nothing about,” Lappi laughed at the time.

Last year, Lappi took what was likely the second and final WRC victory of his career at the snowy Rally Sweden in Hyundai’s Rally1 car. In 2025, he is battling for the Finnish championship title behind the wheel of a Skoda Rally2.

The summer portion of the national championship kicks off in Turku in mid-May.
