Cachon headed into the weekend full of confidence, having taken his first-ever WRC2 category victory at the previous round in Japan.
However, the morning’s opener – Al Faisaliyah – proved costly for the Spanish hopeful. Early in the stage there was a big jump, where Hyundai’s Thierry Neuville had earlier broken his windscreen.
Cachon and Rozada’s rally came to an abrupt end after a violent impact. Cachon described the moment in his Instagram story.
“On one jump we took a huge compression and we got hurt. It was impossible to continue, and we were taken to hospital as a precaution.”
“It’s a shame because the car is fine, but in this situation we simply couldn’t go on,” he added, promising to update their condition later on.
The Al Faisaliyah stage was red-flagged following Cachon and Rozada’s crash. They were airlifted from the scene to hospital for medical examination.

Among the Rally2 cars, Oliver Solberg tops the classification, but he is not competing for WRC2 points in Saudi Arabia. The WRC2 fight is currently led by Britain’s Gus Greensmith, followed by Kajetan Kajetanowicz and Roope Korhonen.
Four more stages are scheduled on Thursday after the service break in Saudi Arabia.
