Paraguay’s eagerly awaited first appearance in the World Rally Championship took a major step forward as the country’s president, Santiago Peña, formally presented the rally’s route.
The WRC event will take place in Paraguay for the first time on 28–31 August. It will serve as the tenth round of this year’s WRC season.
The rally will be based in the city of Encarnación and the surrounding Itapúa region.
The full itinerary covers a total of 951.59 kilometres, of which 334.52 kilometres are competitive special stages.
The event kicks off on Thursday, 28 August, with a shakedown stage of just under five kilometres in Trinidad.
On Friday, the rally will get fully underway. It will be the longest day of the event, featuring eight special stages and over 140 competitive kilometres. The day’s route includes two passes through the Cambyretá and Nueva Alborada stages, each just under 20 kilometres long. In addition, Friday features the more than 30-kilometre-long Yerbatera stage and a 2.5-kilometre circuit stage at the Capitán Miranda Autódromo.
On Saturday, the route heads deeper into Paraguay’s interior, offering 113.6 competitive kilometres. The longest stage of the day will be the nearly 25-kilometre Artigas stage. The rally will also return to the Autódromo circuit for the third time over the weekend.
On the final day, Sunday, crews will tackle two passes each over the Bella Vista (21.86 km) and Misión Jesuítica Trinidad (18.15 km) stages. The latter will serve as the Power Stage, where valuable WRC points are still up for grabs.
