The World Rally Championship continues next with two asphalt events in October and November. First comes the Central European Rally in October, followed by Rally Japan at the beginning of November.
So far, Adrien Fourmaux is the only Hyundai driver who has managed to reach the podium in the asphalt rallies held this season.
This happened right at the start of the season in Monte Carlo, but the next asphalt event in spring, Rally Islas Canarias, went more or less wrong for the whole team.
When Dirtfish asked Fourmaux what Hyundai should do to be competitive on asphalt, the answer came quickly.
“Go back with the 24 car. I don’t know, it’s a question,” Fourmaux replied.
“We never know, we need to be sure that the ’25 is faster than the ’24,” Fourmaux continued.
At the same time, Fourmaux also made a direct demand to his team.
“I would make sure that we know that it’s faster. So I think we need to do another back-to-back. If it’s quicker, we should take the quickest car,” Fourmaux outlined.
Fourmaux stressed that last year’s car has its own problems, but it could perhaps be adjusted to work better on asphalt than this year’s car. Fourmaux has experience on this matter from Rallye Monte Carlo.
“To be fair, I heard many things from the ’24 car, like it’s difficult to drive, the rear is snappy etc. I made some changes on the setup at the end of last year, when I drove in Dévoluy [in preparation for Monte Carlo]. After that, I was really comfortable in Monte Carlo,” Fourmaux pointed out.
