According to rumours, Hyundai is planning to change its strategy for next season by having only one permanent driver for its third car.

Adrien Fourmaux is strongly in the running for that role, having had a solid and consistent season with M-Sport.

Fourmaux, 29, has already secured four podium finishes this season, bringing a substantial number of valuable championship points to his team.

This season, Hyundai has rotated Esapekka Lappi, Dani Sordo, and Andreas Mikkelsen in its third car. The trio hasn’t fully met expectations, making it understandable that Hyundai might switch strategies and rely on just one driver for the third car next season.

Fourmaux himself neither confirms nor denies the rumours about his potential move to Hyundai next season.

“It’s always a lot of rumors at this time of the season,” he told DirtFish.

“For now, I just want to be focused on the four next events coming,” he added.

Fourmaux had previously admitted to RallyJournal.com that he is in negotiations with all the teams, and nothing has changed on that front.

“But for sure, it’s time also to have discussion for the future, for next year, but also the years after,” Fourmaux said.

“So for sure, we have discussion, but you will know that later,” the Frenchman continued.

Fourmaux has previously stated that he hasn’t given up on the championship battle, but his goal has now become clearer. The Frenchman wants to climb to third place in the drivers’ championship. He held that position earlier this season after the WRC rounds in Sweden and Kenya.

“I’m sure it’s still possible. So I want to push that way and let’s see what happens. But at least to fight for the podium of the championship, this is my big target now,” Fourmaux outlined.

The WRC continues next week in Greece with the traditional Acropolis Rally.

“We did four podiums, but I definitely want to go higher now. It’s a rally that I think I like, my driving is suitable also for that,” Fourmaux concluded.
