The 26-year-old Munster has now completed his second full season in the top tier with M-Sport’s Ford Puma Rally1 car. Munster collected a couple of fifth places during the season, but more often he finished outside the points.

The Luxembourg driver has competed for M-Sport with the support of Greek businessman Jourdan Serderidis. Munster revealed a few weeks ago that Serderidis will no longer provide sponsorship funding, which means he may have to look for a seat in the WRC2 category.

Munster remained on the same line after the season-ending Rally Saudi Arabia.

“The only way to drive for Ford is to bring budget. And I don’t know if we’ll be able to bring that kind of budget,” Munster said in an interview with Belgian broadcaster RTBF.

“We’re looking at other options, especially in Rally2. It’s not easy, but we’ll find solutions. We’ve always found them so far,” he added.

This past season Munster set his first stage wins in the top class, although he was not able to fight for rally podiums. He gave himself a satisfactory grade for the year.

“I think we had some good moments and some less good ones. But our first stage wins in Monte Carlo and Kenya, and a few top-five finishes – we’re the only ones at Ford who managed that. And the important thing is that we never really gave up,” Munster said.

“We had a lot of difficult moments, but we always tried to find different settings. It’s important for the experience and for the future. I don’t know what it will look like, but the experience we’ve gained will be useful,” he underlined.

Munster last competed in the WRC’s second tier in the 2023 season.
