Hussi worked last year as rally star Jari-Matti Latvala’s co-driver in the Historic category of the European Rally Championship. However, earlier this year there was big news concerning Hussi when she jumped in alongside Teemu Suninen.
Last week it was reported that Hussi and Suninen will compete for WRC2 points in the Rally Sweden, driving a Toyota GR Yaris Rally2 run by the Delta Rally team.
Many assumed that Hussi’s co-operation with Latvala had now come to an end, but Hussi revealed on Monday in an interview with RallyJournal that this is not the case at all.
“Jari-Matti and I have had absolutely fantastic co-operation, and no one has said anywhere that it has ended. There’s plenty of time to do many other things as well. Perhaps the co-operation will continue,” Hussi surprises.
So far, Hussi has agreed with Suninen on just one event – Rally Sweden.
So is it possible that you will be seen in other cars as well this season?
“Yes, it is,” Hussi says directly.
Is anything already agreed?
“Yes.”
But you probably won’t reveal any more than that?
“Well, let’s put it this way: this year is going to be absolutely packed with rallying, and I’ve done that quite deliberately. I just printed myself one of those yearly weekly calendars and coloured in all the tests, course car duties and rallies, so at home I’ll only have time to pop in briefly,” Hussi laughs.
And so, is it possible that we’ll also see you alongside Jari-Matti this year?
“Yes, our co-operation will certainly continue,” Hussi reveals.
Jari-Matti Latvala has already confirmed that he will continue competing in the Historic category of the European Rally Championship this year as well, and in addition it is possible that Latvala will contest selected events in the United States’ biggest rally series. However, this has not yet been confirmed.
The Historic category of the European Rally Championship begins in early March in Spain with Rally Costa Brava. Rally Sweden, meanwhile, will be run already in mid-February.
