The hot Rally Finland weekend also occasionally brought rain, which caused major problems for the crews.

One of the most common problems in rainy conditions is that windscreens easily mist up. Among others, M-Sport Ford drivers struggled greatly with this issue, and Martins Sesks, for example, was forced to drop his pace to the bare minimum on one stage due to very poor visibility.

Latvala’s co-driver Hussi has now revealed on the Sana on vapaa podcast that their crew also suffered from this problem.

“Jari-Matti drives with glasses, and then his lenses fogged up when moisture entered the car. That was quite a peculiar situation,” Hussi explained.

However, Latvala handled the situation brilliantly with his solid experience from 212 WRC starts.

“I truly appreciate how, despite everything, he was still able to operate,” said Hussi.

Also, Sana on vapaa podcast’s other host, social media personality Sointu Borg, got a ride with Latvala during Rally Finland’s test stage. She admitted to being nervous in Latvala’s car and at the same time said she was very proud of her friend Hussi.

Latvala and Hussi have been working together this year. In addition to Rally Finland, they have also competed in Finnish Championship rallies and taken part in the European Historic Championship.

Latvala and Hussi’s season in the European Historic Championship has so far been very mixed. The pair won early in the season in Spain and the Czech Republic, but since then they have run into problems. They were forced to retire in Belgium and France. Last weekend’s event in Lahti also ended in retirement for the duo due to a technical issue. That makes three retirements in a row.

Janni Hussi has previously read pace notes for Sami Pajari, Heikki Kovalainen and Lauri Joona as well.
