The organisers of the Lahti Historic Rally have released a preliminary entry list, even though registration is still ongoing. Among the interesting pairings is Jari-Matti Latvala with Janni Hussi as his co-driver.
The duo will be driving Latvala’s Toyota Celica GT-4 (ST165).
The international historic rally in Lahti has become a tradition for Latvala. The most experienced driver in the World Rally Championship first participated in the event in 2009 and has since competed there nine times. This year marks his tenth entry.
Latvala has also become accustomed to success in the competition, with an impressive seven victories under his belt. His first five wins were with Asko Sairanen, the sixth with Juho Hänninen in 2022, and last year he claimed the top spot with Enni Mälkönen.
The Lahti Historic Rally was also where Janni Hussi’s rally career began. In 2022, Sami Pajari challenged Hussi during a live broadcast on Radio Suomipop to be his co-driver, and the pair ultimately finished third in the competition driving a Ford Escort.
Latvala and Hussi will also be in action next week at the Rally Finland, though in different cars. Latvala will once again step back from his team principal duties for his home event to drive a Toyota GR Yaris Rally2 with Hänninen. Meanwhile, Hussi will be co-driving for Lauri Joona in a Skoda Fabia. Both crews will compete in the WRC2 class.
The Lahti Historic Rally will take place from 23rd to 24th August, alongside a round of the Finnish Rally Championship.
