Heading into the final day, Fourmaux sits fourth in the rally, and his position could prove crucial in the battle for the manufacturers’ championship. Fourmaux might serve as a roadblock to Hyundai drivers, potentially denying the Korean team valuable points on Sunday.
The gap between Toyota and Hyundai in the manufacturers’ standings stands at 11 points after Saturday’s provisional scores. Toyota will need every possible point in this battle.
When asked on Saturday evening if he had received a call from Toyota team principal Jari-Matti Latvala, Fourmaux couldn’t help but laugh. Latvala had already stated that Toyota would appreciate some help from Ford.
“Is it what he said? What will be the help?” Fourmaux chuckled.
The Frenchman didn’t explicitly promise any assistance, but as he joked, anything is negotiable.
“What does he offer me?” Fourmaux quipped.
Whether Toyota has extended an offer remains unknown. What is clear is that Fourmaux is focused on finishing his season on a high note.
“I want to finish on a good day. There’s no reason why I should push less, except if there was a championship game involved, I don’t know. But for me, I just want to finish, and nothing else matters,” Fourmaux said.
