The duo is competing in the European Historic Rally Championship this year, with their first challenge taking place in Girona, north of Barcelona, at the prestigious Costa Brava Rally.

Latvala spoke to RallyJournal.com last weekend in Savonlinna about the strong start to his partnership with Hussi.

“I think our cooperation with Janni has started really well overall. It has been very easy to talk with her about things,” Latvala said.

Latvala and Hussi first worked together in August last year at Lahti Historic Rally. Before the European Championship opener, they have already competed four times together in Latvala’s Toyota Celica.

According to Latvala, Hussi possesses several key qualities that make her an excellent co-driver.

“Janni can read the pace notes very well. She has been an actress and worked in radio, so her voice is really clear, and she can time it perfectly,” Latvala praised.

The pair also competed together in the Arctic Rally Finland at the start of the year, which provided valuable practice for the season ahead.

“Janni is very eager and highly motivated for this job,” Latvala said.

“That adds a lot to the whole thing. Everything has gone really well with Janni, and in the Arctic Rally, our cooperation improved even more, especially with the notes,” he added.

Latvala and Hussi are seriously aiming for the European Championship title this year. Latvala plans to compete in seven rounds during the season.

The Costa Brava asphalt rally kicks off on Thursday evening with one night stage, followed by six stages on both Friday and Saturday.
