Last weekend, Rovanperä secured third place in the WRC Rally Sardinia and went on to win both the Sunday sprint stage and the event-closing Power Stage. By Thursday, he was already back behind the wheel of the GR Yaris Rally1 car, testing in Greece.
Rovanperä carried out the test in preparation for the legendary Acropolis Rally, which will take place during the final weekend of June. The Finnish driver has twice celebrated victory in the Greek WRC round, and it’s clear he’s aiming for a third.
However, things are slightly more complicated for the Toyota star this time. Rovanperä continues to feel outside his comfort zone with Hankook’s new tyres. Despite this, his pace on gravel improved in Sardinia – even though Toyota didn’t conduct any specific testing ahead of that rally. For Greece, both Rovanperä and his Toyota teammates are entering with better preparation.

Hyundai’s Thierry Neuville has also been working on his car setup for the Acropolis Rally. The reigning world champion has had a difficult season so far, trailing Toyota’s Elfyn Evans – the current championship leader – by 50 points.
In Sardinia, Neuville collected only five WRC points after retiring on Friday. However, he managed a decent comeback on Sunday with a stronger performance.
