This season, Rovanperä has competed part-time in the World Rally Championship, giving him time to explore other areas of motorsport, including circuit racing. The Finnish star successfully competed in the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux this season.
Earlier this year, Rovanperä had expressed interest in testing an F1 car. In the end, the two-time world champion and the Red Bull Racing F1 team managed to join forces for this test.
On Wednesday, it was revealed that Rovanperä had tested an older Red Bull F1 car in Austria. The test took place at the Red Bull Ring circuit last Friday.
In addition to the F1 car, Rovanperä also tested smaller formula classes, driving both F4 and F3.5 cars.
“It was a great day. I got to drive three different formula cars and got a good number of laps in. Of course, the F1 car was what I had been waiting for quite a while, so it was amazing to finally drive it,” Rovanperä enthused.
