Rovanperä started from pole position at the Zolder circuit, but the two-time World Rally Champion made a costly mistake right at the start, losing the lead.
His start went badly wrong, allowing Paul Meijer and Sacha Norden, who started behind him, to surge past. Rovanperä attempted to challenge Norden during the first lap but was unable to overtake the Dutch driver.
Later, it was revealed that Rovanperä had jumped the start, resulting in a five-second time penalty.
Meijer, Norden, and Rovanperä raced together as a trio all the way to the finish line. They had built up such a gap to the rest of the field that Rovanperä was able to hold onto third place, despite his penalty.
After the penalty, Rovanperä finished 6.266 seconds behind race winner Meijer. Sam Jongejan, who finished fourth, crossed the line ten seconds behind the leaders.
The final race of the series will take place on Sunday at the Zolder circuit. Rovanperä will start from second on the grid, just behind Norden.
This season, Rovanperä has secured two victories, one second-place finish, and one third-place finish in the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux. He has placed in the top six in every race he has competed in.
