Fans of the World Rally Championship can now cast their votes for the most stunning performance of the recently concluded season. Four exceptional candidates are on the shortlist.
Hyundai driver Thierry Neuville kicked off his season in style, which ultimately culminated in his championship celebrations. Neuville claimed a brilliant victory at Rally Monte Carlo, dominating the rally’s Super Sunday and the Power Stage.
His performance earned him the maximum 30 championship points, securing the lead in the standings – a position he never relinquished throughout the season. Neuville was the only driver in 2024 to achieve maximum points in a single rally.
Toyota’s Kalle Rovanperä, on the other hand, delivered a sensational performance at Rally Poland. Rovanperä wasn’t even scheduled to compete in the gravel event, but he was called up at the last minute after his teammate Sebastien Ogier was involved in a head-on collision during recce.
Rovanperä and his co-driver Jonne Halttunen arrived at the rally venue just in time, completing their recce on an unconventional schedule. Despite minimal preparation, the pair pulled off a remarkable victory, which was hailed as a miracle performance.
Other nominees for the season’s best drive include Latvian sensation Martins Sesks and WRC2 star Yohan Rossel. Sesks made a stunning debut in WRC’s top class, battling for a podium spot at his home event in Latvia. Unfortunately, a technical issue on the final stage dropped him from third to seventh place.
Rossel, driving for Citroën, staged an incredible comeback at Rally Sardinia after suffering a puncture early in the event. The Frenchman fell two minutes behind the leaders, dropping to 18th place. However, he climbed to second in his class by Saturday evening after setting eight consecutive fastest times. Rossel eventually finished just half a minute behind the winner, Sami Pajari.
