Rovanperä will be back behind the wheel of a rally car this coming weekend in Southern Italy. The two-time world champion is set to participate in a slightly unconventional competition near the town of Ceglie Messapica.

The area is home to legendary motorsport figure Cesare Fiorio, in whose honour the Fiorio Cup is now being held for the fourth time. This year, the competition will feature six drivers forming two teams.

Rovanperä is the star of Team Europe, which also includes another Finnish driver, the experienced Harri Toivonen, who also participated in the Fiorio Cup last year. Additionally, Team Europe features Turkish female driver Burcu Cetinkaya, who has WRC experience.

Team Italy is led by four-time national rally champion Andrea Crugnola, joined by Andrea Aghini and Tamara Molinaro.

Rovanperä, Crugnola, and their teammates will compete over the weekend in Toyota and Škoda Rally2 cars.

“Having the World Champion and the Italian Champion, two of the best female rally drivers, and two veteran drivers guarantees top-level entertainment from the start. Everyone will know how to thrill the thousands of spectators lining the course. My only regret is not having an Italian car competing, but hopefully in the future,” says Fiorio, known especially for his role as the successful team manager of the Italian marque Lancia.

The Fiorio Cup will take place on Sunday, 10 November. Elimination rounds will be held in the morning, followed by the final rounds in the afternoon.

In addition to the Fiorio Cup, Rovanperä will compete later in November at the Killarney Historic Rally in Ireland.
