Rovanperä has mentioned enjoying an increased social life and a less stressful lifestyle. With more time on his hands, the Finnish driver has participated in events such as the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux this year.
Rovanperä has also expressed interest in testing a Formula 1 car. This opportunity could arise through his sponsor, Red Bull.
Red Bull essentially operates two teams in Formula 1 and is heavily involved in the series.
“Of course, it’s possible, and there have been plans. Let’s just say there have been plans to plan it at some point. However, nothing has been confirmed yet,” Rovanperä revealed.
Rovanperä has discussed a possible F1 test over the past year.
“We last talked about it in the spring. We’ve been trying to find a slot in the calendar to fit it in. The best scenario would be to do it this year, but this year is ending quickly. We’ll see if it can happen this year,” Rovanperä mused.
In addition to Formula 1, Rovanperä might have the chance to compete in the World Endurance Championship (WEC). Toyota has its own team in the series, making it an accessible opportunity.
The WEC series includes the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans. Many former F1 drivers and rally drivers have participated in this race over the years.
“I can’t comment on that yet. All these possibilities are very interesting, but nothing has been planned that far ahead. Circuit racing would indeed be an interesting opportunity for me,” Rovanperä commented.
Even if Rovanperä doesn’t get to compete in the WEC this year, he will at least get a taste of it.
“There has been talk that I might at least get to test the simulator. We need to find a good time for it this year. It would certainly be interesting to gather some data from there and see how it goes,” Rovanperä revealed.
Next, Rovanperä’s season continues with the Rally Finland at the beginning of August. After that, his rally calendar for the rest of the season is still open.
