Rovanperä has won the Estonian WRC round three times in a row, but this time he is struggling. He continues to battle with the tyres of the new supplier in the WRC. While other drivers have found some solutions to the problems, the Finnish star has not.

The two-time world champion was baffled after Friday’s running.

“A completely clean day and we did everything we could without mistakes. Of course, in a rally like this, you’d hope to be higher up in the standings and fighting for the win. I just don’t have the pace I should,” Rovanperä admitted.

“It’s not very enjoyable to drive. You can see it constantly in the times, even though we’re pushing to the maximum. The driving should be cleaner, but for that you need the right medicine to make it work.”

Saturday’s route in Estonia will feature slightly different types of roads, which might help Rovanperä.

“We already had different settings in the afternoon and the road surface was different. Let’s see if we can learn something from that,” Rovanperä pondered.

“Hopefully I can learn something for tomorrow. There’s a big difference if the surface is softer. We’ll try something to improve for tomorrow.”
