Rovanperä has confirmed his participation in the popular Rallylegend event, a demonstration-style rally held in early October in San Marino.
The timing works out well for him, as there is a one-month break in the World Rally Championship after next week’s Rally Chile. The season resumes in mid-October with the Central European Rally on asphalt.
In San Marino, Rovanperä will drive a rear-wheel-drive Toyota Starlet run by the Irish outfit BMV Rally Team, producing over 360 horsepower.
“Excited to go back to this awesome event this year with BMV Rally Team 2.5 liter Starlet and Juuso Nordgren as my co-driver,” Rovanperä enthused on Instagram.
The same Starlet became familiar to Rovanperä last year at the Killarney Historic Rally, which he contested with Jonne Halttunen. On that occasion, Rovanperä lost several minutes on the opening stage due to an electrical issue, but the Finnish pair still had plenty of fun in the cockpit during the rally.

Rovanperä has become friends with the car’s owner Jason Black and other members of the Irish team. Black visited Finland in July and got the chance to ride alongside Rovanperä when the Finnish star tested Toyota’s Rally1 car ahead of Rally Finland.
Rovanperä previously entered the Rallylegend event in 2022, when he drove Jari-Matti Latvala’s Toyota Celica with Roope Korhonen – better known as a driver himself – as his co-driver.
This time, Rovanperä will be joined by Juuso Nordgren, a former driver who now works in his gravel crew during the WRC’s tarmac rallies.
