Rain poured down relentlessly as the championship contenders lined up for the final at the iconic Höljes circuit. Starting from pole position, Kristoffersson got through the first corner in front and never gave up the lead.
The conditions were extremely treacherous, with the cars aquaplaning throughout the race.
“Very important points, but now I’m just thinking about that crazy final. I’ve been in Höljes in heavy rain before, but this was by far the craziest final I have ever driven,” Kristoffersson said.
Grönholm, who also started from the front row, managed to avoid any major trouble and secured second place. The Finnish driver echoed Kristoffersson’s sentiment.
“Crazy, crazy! I have never driven in these kinds of conditions. It was aquaplaning everywhere,” Grönholm commented.

Grönholm eventually finished just over five seconds behind the victorious Kristoffersson. Third place went to Sweden’s Timmy Hansen, while Finland’s Juha Rytkönen took fourth.
Having won the opening round of the season in Portugal, Grönholm retains the overall lead in the standings. Kristoffersson now sits just six points behind him after two rounds.
“I started very poorly in practice and we didn’t have the pace more or less the whole weekend. So it was a great amount of points considering the pace wasn’t there this weekend,” Grönholm summed up.
The next round of the World Rallycross Championship will be held in Hungary in mid-July.
