Østberg was a long-standing fixture in the World Rally Championship (WRC) and has a WRC event win to his name from the 2012 Rally de Portugal. However, the Norwegian driver has not been seen on WRC stages since the 2021 season.
Last year, Østberg competed in his first full season in the ERC, finishing third in the overall standings. This year, he continues with the same formula: Patrik Barth returns as his co-driver, and the they will compete with a Citroen C3 Rally2 car from the Hungarian TRT team.
“It took us a lot of effort to put the season together. The support of Citroen Hungary, Citroen Racing, Michelin and TRT was the key to start this season,” Østberg appreciated.
“This is the second year we have started in the ERC. The package with which we are competing in 2024 is strong and there is no question that we want to fight for victory – not just for rally wins, but for the championship title,” the Norwegian stated.
The competition level in the ERC is also high this year. New Zealand star Hayden Paddon announced earlier that he would be defending his European championship this season.

Paddon, like Østberg, is a familiar face from the WRC. He too has won a WRC event in his career.
The opening round of the ERC season in Hungary will take place from April 12 to 14.
