Korhola had been driving a Hyundai Rally2 car since the start of the 2024 season, but a decision has now been made to change vehicles. Based on last year’s results, it’s clear that Toyota should be significantly more competitive than the Hyundai Rally2.

“A very exciting week ahead. I can’t wait to try out the new car! My previous experience with Rally2 cars has been mainly with Hyundai, so it’ll be great to see how the Toyota feels,” Korhola says.

Korhola and Temonen will debut the GR Yaris Rally2 next weekend, 3–4 May, at Rally Adriatico near the town of Cingoli. Before the event, they will have one test day to get acquainted with the car.

“At least from what I’ve seen from the sidelines, the engine is very different compared to the Hyundai. The most important thing is to get a good feeling and confidence in the test and to understand the car’s behaviour,” Korhola notes.

In the previous two gravel rallies, Korhola and Temonen were forced to retire from the lead due to technical issues. This time, the goal is clear.

“We can’t really head into the rally with any other target than going for the win – which slipped away in the last two events,” Korhola states.

Rally Adriatico is a two-day event, with qualifying and a shakedown stage on Saturday. On Sunday, three different special stages will each be run three times.

Korhola and Temonen will also continue their collaboration with local partner Gass Racing.
