The 28-year-old Loubet was forced to withdraw from Rally Sardinia at the last moment due to an accident during the recce. His co-driver, Loris Pascaud, sustained an injury in the incident and was unable to recover in time for the rally.

“Unfortunately, we won’t be starting Rally Sardinia. We had an accident during the recce, and Loris was injured in the process. Luckily, it’s nothing too serious, but unfortunately he won’t be fit to start the rally,” Loubet announced on social media on Thursday.

“Of course, we’re disappointed, I really enjoy this event, but health comes first, and we’ll be back stronger. Thanks a lot for your support and see you soon,”

Loubet drove a Rally1 car during the 2023 season, but the year turned out to be a major disappointment. Since then, the Frenchman has been regaining experience in the lower WRC2 category, though his results have remained modest there as well.

Last year, Loubet contested five WRC events and crashed out multiple times. Only in Rally Poland did he reach the finish, securing fifth place in WRC2. This current season started with a seventh-place finish in Portugal.

Rally Sardinia begins on Friday. The event features a total of 16 special stages, covering approximately 320 competitive kilometres.
