Solberg finished sixth overall and was once again the fastest driver in a Rally2 car. However, the Swede did not score any championship points from Sardinia.
That didn’t seem to bother him much.
“No, not really. I mean, for me at the moment, I just try to do every race as well as possible. And, you know, like I said before, if you go into WRC, every race counts. So for me now, I just try to drive like every race counts. We do our best and try to win every rally – and that’s it,” Solberg told RallyJournal.com.
Solberg could have made a different choice, but ultimately Sardinia was not one of his nominated points-scoring events.
“Well, I was thinking to do it, but then it was too late. So it was just a bit of miscommunication,” Solberg explained.
Solberg is one of the hottest and most promising names in the WRC2 category. In Finland, strong rumours have been circulating lately suggesting that Solberg is preparing to drive a Toyota Rally1 car at Rally Finland in August.
“I haven’t prepared for anything,” he denied.
Still, the talk in Finland is that you’ll be driving a Rally1 car at Rally Finland?
“It seems like you guys have more rumours than me — because I know much less,” Solberg laughed.
