As reported earlier, the organisers of Croatia Rally have reached a new agreement with the WRC Promoter. While Croatia will host a European Rally Championship event in 2025, it will return to the World Rally Championship calendar in 2026 and 2027.
Croatia made its WRC debut in 2021 and has hosted the event annually since. However, it was left out of next year’s calendar after the Croatian government delayed its decision to provide financial support for the rally until October.
After a one-year hiatus, the WRC will return to Croatia in 2026, a move welcomed by Simon Larkin, WRC Promoter’s Senior Director of events .
“When Croatia Rally joined the WRC in 2021, we knew it would become an instant classic, and it hasn’t disappointed in each of the last four editions,” Larkin enthused.
“We are delighted to continue this adventure for the next three years across both our championships. It will definitely add a new sporting challenge to the ERC, and we think it will appeal to not just our regular ERC competitors, but likely some WRC teams as well,” Larkin hinted.
Next year, Croatia’s ERC round is scheduled for October, potentially offering WRC teams a valuable testing opportunity ahead of the Central European and Japanese WRC tarmac rallies.
President of the Croatia Rally Organising Committee Daniel Saskin expressed his gratitude to the country’s government and other partners for their support, which enables the event to continue in the coming years.
“I also thank WRC Promoter for recognising the quality of our organisation and choosing to continue hosting these motorsport competitions in Croatia. Through our experience and successful organisation, we continue to position Croatia as a motorsport hub,” Saskin said.
