On Tuesday, Lancia presented its WRC project at the headquarters of Stellantis Motorsport in France. Company bosses from Stellantis and Lancia appeared before the media, along with Miki Biasion – the two-time world champion who is acting as an advisor for the project.

Next year, Lancia will enter the WRC2 category of the World Rally Championship. The team had already released photos and video material of its Lancia Ypsilon Rally2 car, but this was the first time the machine had been officially shown to the media.

The biggest interest at the event focused on who will drive for Lancia in WRC2 next season. However, that question remained unanswered.

The team said that the driver contracts are still being finalised, which is why the names could not yet be published. The team stated it will announce its drivers around mid-December.

The strongest name linked to Lancia has been French driver Yohan Rossel, who has competed successfully in recent seasons with Citroën’s Rally2 car in WRC2. Citroën is making way for Lancia, which will become the official Stellantis team in the championship next season.

The technology of the Lancia Ypsilon Rally2 HF Integrale is based on the Citroën C3 Rally2. In that sense too, Rossel would be a logical choice as a team driver for next year.

The second Lancia seat has been rumoured to involve Nikolay Gryazin, who collaborated with Citroën during the 2024 season. He claimed three WRC2 victories and finished third in the championship standings. For this season, he returned to the wheel of a Škoda Rally2 car.

Lancia is planning to contest at least eight WRC rallies next season. The team’s Rally2 car will make its debut at the opening round of the season at Rally Monte Carlo.
