The experienced Qatari driver returned to the lead of the Dakar Rally on Friday.
Competing for Dacia, Al-Attiyah claimed his first stage win of this year’s Dakar Rally and left his team-mate Sébastien Loeb two minutes and 26 seconds behind.
Loeb also performed excellently, especially towards the end of the stage, and was now in the top three of a stage for the first time since 2024.
In the overall standings, Al-Attiyah now leads the Dakar Rally by a margin of just over six minutes ahead of Toyota driver Henk Lategan.
The next positions have been taken by Ford. Nani Roma, Carlos Sainz and Mattias Ekström complete the top five – with the entire trio competing in Ford Racing colours.
Nasser Al-Attiyah is a five-time winner of the Dakar Rally. At the end of last year, he was also seen in the World Rally Championship for the first time in a long while, when the experienced driver took part in the Saudi Arabian WRC Rally.
