The World RX has confirmed that the 2025 season opener will take place in January in Canada. What makes it even more unique is that the race will be held on an ice track.
The Canadian round will be hosted at the Trois-Rivières circuit in the province of Quebec. The same track was used for World Championship points from 2014 to 2019, but those were summer races.
There has never been a World Championship race held on an ice track before.
“We are incredibly excited to be returning to Canada for the first time since 2019 for an event that will look like nothing we have ever seen on the calendar before,” said Arne Dirks, Rallycross Promoter Managing Director.
“We are of course familiar with Trois-Rivières, but seeing it on snow is going to add an all-new incredibly spectacular element to our calendar. We cannot think of a better way to kick off the 2025 season.”
The World Rallycross Championship calendar for next year is expected to be fully revealed soon. It was recently disclosed that, starting next summer, a World Championship round will be held in Finland at the Kymiring circuit.
In September, the series also announced a three-year agreement with the Lousada circuit in Portugal.
