Although the stakes could hardly be higher, the Swedish star remains remarkably calm about the challenge.

A victory would already secure Solberg the WRC2 title, but he refuses to let the pressure get to him.

“If I win, I win. It’s like that,” Solberg smiled to DirtFish.

In Paraguay, Solberg claimed his fourth WRC2 class win of the season, which put the young Swede in a commanding position in the championship fight. A win in Chile would confirm the title, although the championship could also be sealed without a Chile victory.

“For me, it’s the same as always. I drive my own race and do my own thing. Nothing changes from that side. OK, maybe we don’t go completely flat out all of the time, let’s maybe come one step down from the speed we were showing in Paraguay,” Solberg reflected.

““If I win the race, then the WRC2 title is mine. There are some different calculations for some of my rivals, but this is the main one and this is what we focus on,” Solberg concluded calmly.

At 23, Solberg’s season has been memorable. He has delivered strong, consistent performances in WRC2 and, on top of that, he claimed his first ever WRC rally win in Estonia in July.

In Estonia, Solberg masterfully handled Toyota’s Rally1 car with minimal testing, but his regular weapon – Toyota’s Rally2 car – has been in excellent form throughout the season in WRC2 as well.

Solberg wanted to thank his entire Printsport team already at this stage of the season.

“Like we know, this sport is a team effort and to be at this point is a big reflection on how hard everybody at Printsport has worked with us. The Toyota GR Yaris Rally2 is an amazing car and I’m grateful to Toyota and the whole team for what they have done to help us in the fight this year. Now, we have one more battle in the WRC2 title race,” Solberg said appreciatively.
