Tänak has joined Toyota’s Sebastien Ogier in a media protest, maintaining a distant attitude towards the press throughout the rally. The backdrop is Ogier’s conditional €30,000 fine from the FIA for criticising rally organisers.

This morning, Tänak continued with the same approach, showing little interest in engaging with the media. However, he did offer a few comments about his morning performance.

“Obviously, managing tyres was not the case this morning. It was quite a low-grip condition and a bit wet in the last stages as well. So, not really the case. All around, it was a good look,” Tänak remarked.

When the journalist asked about tyre choices for the afternoon loop, Tänak was less willing to elaborate.

“Difficult to say. We’ll see,” Tänak replied.

The journalist pressed further, but Tänak closed the conversation.

“I’m not speaking to you at the moment,” Tänak said bluntly.

The interviewer didn’t give up, wanting to know why the Estonian star wasn’t speaking.

“Because I honestly don’t know. I actually haven’t spoken to the engineers or the weather guys yet. So yeah, first we’ll have lunch and then we’ll see,” Tänak explained his brief responses.
