The Hyundai WRC team, which Tänak represents, has its own testing area located in the Jämsä region. The team is once again utilising this area this week, where there are no restrictions on testing.

Tänak began Hyundai’s testing session on Wednesday. The 2019 World Champion arrived in the morning in style, via helicopter.

Afterwards, the Estonian star put on his work gloves and started working with the Hyundai i20 N Rally1 car. Tänak’s driving was characteristically impressive as he sped the rally car through the rural and forest landscapes of Central Finland.

See below for photos from Tänak’s test.

In the early evening, Tänak took off his overalls, jumped back into the helicopter, and left the dust of the gravel roads behind.

At this point, it is not clear whether Hyundai’s tests are related to the Rally Chile, which takes place in a month, or if they are already testing parts for next year. According to information from those on the scene, Hyundai’s jumps were rather modest on Wednesday compared to the pre-tests for Rally Finland, which the team conducted on exactly the same road just over a month ago.

According to information obtained by RallyJournal.com, Hyundai will continue testing in the Jämsä area for a couple more days before its drivers start preparing for the Acropolis Rally of Greece.

The Acropolis Rally will take place from 5th to 8th September. Hyundai driver Thierry Neuville heads into the event as the leader of the World Championship standings. Tänak is in third place in the points table before the final four rounds of the season. Spanish driver Dani Sordo will be driving Hyundai’s third Rally1 car in Greece.
