Ott Tänak’s celebrations were short-lived – Flew to Finland on a private jet

Tänak was in a league of his own at the Acropolis Rally over the weekend. The Estonian Hyundai star claimed victory by more than half a minute ahead of Toyota’s Sébastien Ogier.

Having climbed to third in the World Championship standings, Tänak left the rally headquarters in Lamia soon after the podium ceremony and boarded a private jet with co-driver Martin Järveoja.

“It’s been far too long (from the last win), but we did it! Next stop: Development test in Finland,” Tänak wrote alongside a photo he shared on social media.

Tänak is, so to speak, back at the office on Monday morning in Central Finland. Hyundai’s testing base is located in the Jämsä region, where Tänak will begin a three-day test session with his team.

During the tests, Tänak will fine-tune the setup and get a feel for Hyundai’s Rally1 car ahead of the ultra-fast gravel rallies in Estonia and Finland. One of the key objectives is to find the right setup for the Hankook tyres.

On Tuesday, Hyundai’s Adrien Fourmaux will take over testing duties in Central Finland. Fourmaux finished third at the Acropolis Rally.

Reigning world champion Thierry Neuville will wrap up Hyundai’s testing session on Wednesday.

The Estonian WRC round is scheduled in just over two weeks. Hyundai’s drivers will also test in Estonia next week in preparation for the event.
