Pajari’s car suffered a technical issue late on Friday, and the Finnish driver was ultimately unable to continue on Saturday either. The problem was somehow related to the fuel system.

Toyota attempted to send Pajari back into the rally on Saturday, but it quickly became clear that he would not be able to complete the day.

“Of course, it was disappointing and a shame that we couldn’t drive. So, almost half of the rally, basically we didn’t really do” Pajari lamented after the event.

“We had a technical issue. These things can still happen nowadays. It’s really rare to have this kind of issue, but still, it’s part of the sport. Sometimes things like this happen. But I’m still really, really happy that we managed to fix the car, and we could still drive one more day,” Pajari added.

Pajari was able to compete on Sunday and felt he gained valuable experience from the final leg.

“And okay, first car on the road on Sunday – not so easy, cleaning the line for the others. But that’s also quite valuable learning for me, because it might happen in the future as well.,” Pajari said.

Pajari wasn’t the only one in Greece who had to retire due to a fuel-related issue. Ford drivers Grégoire Munster and Martins Sesks also had to abandon the rally for the same reason.

“It was quite sudden, and quite soon we noticed that it was over -for now,” Pajari explained.

“You’re never really prepared for something like this. But of course, shouting doesn’t help in this case. We just need to find out more – why it happened and how we can fix it,” Pajari concluded.
