Ogier claimed his first eight titles together with Julien Ingrassia, but when Ogier decided to step back into a part-time role in the World Rally Championship, Ingrassia also moved on to new challenges. In recent years, the co-driver legend has been seen, among other roles, as a TV commentator in WRC broadcasts.
Since late 2022, Ogier has been partnered by another French co-driver, Vincent Landais. Eight years younger than Ogier, Landais has adapted well to the champion’s demanding working environment.
Ogier himself is also extremely satisfied with Landais’s work. In a way, not much has changed, as Ogier describes Landais as Ingrassia’s “little brother”.
“I’m very demanding for many people. Everybody basically working with me know that. But that’s the way to be successful, I believe. And I also very demanding to myself always,” Ogier says.
“Vincent has been The little brother of Julian somehow, you know, and even though we always joke about it with the team, if you watch some on board sometimes you’re not sure if it’s the Vincent talking or Julian. Even the voice somehow copied the Julian tone. So it’s like very, very funny.”
Landais is now also a world rally champion himself. Just a few years ago, Landais was reading the pace notes for Pierre-Louis Loubet, and at that time a world title was still only a dream. It appears that both Landais and Ogier are more than satisfied with their current situation.
“More than that somehow it’s been a fresh blood in the car. And I’m sure Julian is also having a great time now and also to him for sure, he will always remain in my heart for many reasons. But yeah, like I said, very happy to welcome Vincent in the winning club,” Ogier enthuses.
