Ogier finished second behind teammate Kalle Rovanperä and picked up 25 points from the popular island round.
Although the Frenchman has only contested two WRC events this season, he has already collected 58 points. With this, he surpassed the astonishing milestone of 3,000 career WRC points – a feat no other driver has ever achieved.
Naturally, Ogier acknowledged the significance of the record, but he remained modest and grounded.
“The only thing with that is that it’s hardly comparable to anything because, you know, point systems have changed over the years,” Ogier said in the Canaries.
“I wish someone would make, I don’t know, a comparison with the average for everyone using the same system and see,” he added.
Ogier is an eight-time world champion and arguably one of the greatest rally drivers of all time. What makes his recent achievements even more impressive is his continued success into his 40s. However, Ogier was not interested in comparing himself to other legends in the sport, despite this latest accomplishment.

“I’m always the one who says it’s hard to compare drivers from different generations, because so many parameters are changing,” Ogier pointed out.
Still, he did agree with journalists that it was something to be proud of.
“But still, I can be proud and happy to be the best of my generation then — and that’s good.”
Ogier, now 41, made his debut in the WRC’s top class in 2009. He won his first world title in 2013, then followed it with five consecutive championships from 2014 to 2018. His most recent – and likely final – titles came in 2020 and 2021..
