The Frenchman began the season once again as a part-time Toyota driver, with plans to contest roughly half of the year’s WRC rounds.
Ogier’s record so far in 2025 has been remarkable. From the six rallies he has entered, he has claimed three victories, two second places and one third place.
Despite missing three events, Ogier currently sits third in the championship standings, just 13 points behind his team-mate and championship leader Elfyn Evans.
Ogier confirmed at Rally Finland that he is likely to contest all the remaining rounds in a bid for a ninth world title. He is already certain to start both upcoming gravel rallies in South America – in Paraguay and Chile.
“When you find yourself in a situation like this and need to add two or three rallies to the original programme, it might be worth taking the chance so there are no regrets later. We know it’s not going to be easy, because we’re still behind three other drivers,” Ogier told Belgian broadcaster RTBF.
Evans leads the championship by three points over Kalle Rovanperä, who took a home victory in Finland, while Ogier is tied on points with Hyundai’s Ott Tänak.
“Every point has to be earned with a lot of hard work. But so far, we’ve had six consecutive podiums. As long as we can keep that consistency, nothing is impossible,” Ogier added.
There are five rounds left to run this season. After Paraguay and Chile, the WRC heads to asphalt in Central Europe and Japan, before the season finale on gravel in Saudi Arabia at the end of November.
Ogier believes the title fight will remain wide open until the very end.
“I think this is great for the fans. Four drivers separated by just a handful of points with five rallies to go – it’s fantastic for the suspense,” he said.
