Sesks made a name for himself on the world stage last year, competing in three WRC events with M-Sport’s Ford Puma Rally1 car. The Latvian driver impressed with his speed, particularly on the fast gravel stages of the Poland and Latvia rallies.
Since autumn, Sesks has publicly expressed his goal of securing a seat in the WRC’s top category for the 2025 season. M-Sport Ford, in turn, has stated that a spot would be available if Sesks could bring the necessary budget.
It now seems Sesks has managed to pull together the required funding.
In recent days, Sesks has hinted on social media that he will soon share major news. According to information obtained by RallyJournal.com, Sesks is expected to start his WRC season at Rally Sweden, held in mid-February.
The entry deadline for Rally Sweden is Tuesday, 14 January, with the official entry list published three days later on Friday, 17 January.
Currently, it looks like M-Sport will field four Rally1 cars at Rally Sweden. In addition to Sesks and the team’s regular drivers, Gregoire Munster and Josh McErlean, gentleman driver Jourdan Serderidis is also expected to compete.
Serderidis will warm up for Rally Sweden by participating in the Arctic Lapland Rally in Finland. Whether Arctic Lapland Rally will attract more Rally1 entries remains to be seen, as it serves as excellent preparation for Rally Sweden.
M-Sport Ford has yet to confirm its plans for Rally Sweden. However, team principal Richard Millener has indicated that other drivers will also feature in the team’s cars this season.
“Our target is to field more than two cars on selected events,” Millener said, according to Motorsport.com.
With M-Sport bringing four Ford Pumas to Sweden, the event will feature at least 11 Rally1 cars. Toyota is expected to field four cars and Hyundai three.
Rally Sweden is scheduled for 13–16 February, following the season-opening Monte Carlo Rally from 23–26 January.
