Tänak was in a class of his own on Saturday, setting the fastest time on five of the day’s six special stages. Heading into Sunday’s final four stages, Tänak leads Toyota driver Sébastien Ogier by 43.6 seconds.

“It’s been great, extremely demanding day and very tough stages. Good road position and the car was improving over the course of the day,” Tänak said.

“Nice and clean. The smoothest stage of the weekend I think. A lot of dust in the end, tricky to see in the last two kilometers;” Ogier commented.

Hyundai’s Adrien Fourmaux is in position for his first podium finish since the season-opening Monte Carlo round. He trails second-placed Ogier by 43.6 seconds. Behind him in fourth is Toyota’s Elfyn Evans, just under a minute adrift.

Fourmaux began the day only three seconds behind Tänak, but damaged his car on Saturday morning’s final stage and dropped to third.

“Still positive to be on the podium. We took some softs for the afternoon because we did expect some rain. I had no tyres left in this one, it was really slippery,” told Fourmaux.

In fifth place is Hyundai’s Thierry Neuville, ahead of M-Sport Ford’s Grégoire Munster. WRC2 category leader Oliver Solberg holds seventh place ahead of Gus Greensmith and Kajetan Kajetanowicz.

Rally Greece concludes on Sunday with four more special stages. The stages will cover nearly 100 kilometres in total.
