Although Solberg didn’t set the fastest time this time, he still managed to increase his lead over Hyundai’s Ott Tänak.

On the first running of the nearly 24-kilometre Kambja stage, Solberg lost 3.3 seconds to stage winner Adrien Fourmaux of Hyundai.

Solberg slightly damaged his car on SS6 and admitted to making some mistakes.

“So many small mistakes, it was so slippy. Didn’t want to do any mistakes. Very tricky,” Solberg summed up at the stage end.

Fourmaux, in contrast, showed significantly better pace than he had in the morning loop. The solution to the Frenchman’s earlier struggles was found during the midday service.

“We made a big step forward in service. This time the stage was really fun to drive. I’m enjoying it a lot more now,” Fourmaux said.

Hyundai’s Thierry Neuville and Ott Tänak followed in the next spots. Tänak dropped 6.7 seconds to the stage winner, while Neuville was 6.3 seconds off Fourmaux’s pace.

“The feeling was much better now, but there’s still a lot of loose gravel and very little grip,” Tänak commented.

Toyota’s Kalle Rovanperä made changes to his car during service, but still couldn’t find the desired pace.

“This is the speed I can manage right now. We made changes to the car, but overall they didn’t improve things much,” Rovanperä said candidly.

Toyota driver Sami Pajari suffered from a technical issue during the morning loop, but now the Finn had some promising news to share.

“It’s been fixed now. I should’ve just pushed a bit harder since everything’s working fine,” Pajari said.

In the overall standings, Solberg’s lead has now grown to 11.9 seconds. Hyundai’s Thierry Neuville moved ahead of Kalle Rovanperä into third place. The Belgian now trails the leader by 15 seconds. Rovanperä, meanwhile, is 17.5 seconds off the pace.

Adrien Fourmaux has climbed to sixth place, closing in on Toyota’s Takamoto Katsuta, while Toyota’s Elfyn Evans has dropped to seventh. Sami Pajari now holds eighth place and trails the rally leader by over a minute.

Two more special stages will be run on Friday in Rally Estonia. The rally concludes on Sunday.
