Solberg leads Rally Estonia by 12.4 seconds ahead of the host nation’s Ott Tänak. Hyundai’s Thierry Neuville holds third place in the rally.
“Today has been the best day of my life. I’m leading the rally, I’ve won stages, and the feeling in the car is unbelievable. I even wanted to do some drifting here,” Solberg commented after the Elva spectator stage that concluded the day.
Toyota’s Kalle Rovanperä sits in fourth place. He trails the leader by 20.1 seconds and continues to struggle with Hankook tyres on gravel.
“I just tried to drive cleanly. Yet again, another painful day behind us, like every day this year. Now I just have to keep my chin up and brace for more disappointment, ” Rovanperä lamented.
Hyundai’s Adrien Fourmaux has climbed to fifth place, edging Toyota’s Takamoto Katsuta by two-tenths of a second. Toyota’s Elfyn Evans lies seventh in the rally, just ahead of team-mate Sami Pajari.
On Saturday, Rally Estonia will feature nine special stages. The rally concludes on Sunday.
