The Finn started from pole position in the Imola race and led for the first few laps. However, he ultimately had to settle for second place in Saturday’s race.

Rovanperä got a good start from pole and convincingly shot into the lead.

On the third lap, however, he had to relinquish his lead when Paul Meijer seized his opportunity and stylishly overtook the Finn.

Meijer maintained his lead until the end and celebrated the victory in Saturday’s race. Rovanperä finished second. The Finnish driver’s performance was particularly impressive, considering he only competes in part of the series and this was only his second circuit race of his career.

This race was Rovanperä’s second in this season’s Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux series. Last month, he competed in Zandvoort, Netherlands.

The Imola track is entirely new to all Porsche drivers, giving Rovanperä a more level playing field for his second race of the season.

Swedish driver Robin Knutsson finished third, and Benjamin Paque came fourth.

Saturday’s race also featured some crashes, and a safety car was deployed towards the end of the race.

The Imola race weekend offers another race on Sunday.
